Dr. Robert Preijers
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Preijers is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist (PSY34710), specializing in pre-employment psychological evaluations, psychological fitness for duty evaluations, personal injury evaluations, disability evaluations, critical incident response (i.e. officer involved shootings), and threat assessment. He served as a Police Officer with the City of Gardena (California) Police Department for 10 years; as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for 20 years; and as a Mental Health Specialist with the FBI for six years.
During Dr. Preijers’ law enforcement career, he conducted investigations on criminal and national security matters. He also served as a Special Weapons and Tactics operator and sniper, a Profiler for the Behavioral Analysis Program, and as a Psychological Assessor for the Undercover Safeguard Unit, responsible for preserving the safety, security, and psychological well-being of personnel working in covert/non-covert programs and high-risk assignments via routine psychological testing and clinical interviews. During his career as a police officer, Dr. Preijers was involved in an officer involved shooting during an undercover operation and was subsequently awarded the Medal of Valor. This experience has given him a deep understanding of the psychological and emotional stressors that follow critical incidents, strengthening his ability to treat those impacted by them.
During his time as a Mental Health Specialist, Dr. Preijers played an instrumental role in establishing the Psychological Services Unit (PSU) and implementing the pre-employment psychological evaluation process for the FBI. He conducted pre-employment psychological screenings of FBI applicants and psychological fitness for duty evaluations of onboard employees. He was also responsible for developing standards, policies, & protocols for the pre-employment psychological screening and psychological fitness for duty programs.
